Listen, I think I found a great place for us to look at.
With everything I've figured out as far as cost, we could stay, pay for food, and get 2 hours of wall climbing & low level team building exercises, four hours in a great gym, and free access to a bonfire spot, all equipment for almost any game, and rental of any audio/visual equipment we need--all for $45 a person.
I talked to a guy on the phone to clear up a few questions and he seemed great.
So, it's in Ravenna, Ohio--2 hours away.
Oh, and if we get food and a place to cook it, my mom said she'd come stay and be our cook for the weekend if we need her to.
So I don't think that price is bad at all before fundraising and our general budget anyways.

Check it out. The MRC is booked for that weekend, so my calculations include 2 of the large cabins, but he offered the ARC as well, with a few stipulations, but still definitely worth a look since it has a kitchen. I know it says 21 & older, but he told me a little more about it. Anyways, look around. Tell me what you think. I'll show the people meeting on Wednesday more then.
Katie, the only problem with your place right now is not having a kitchen.
I have found another place called Inspiration Hills in Burbank, OH they have a faciliuty that holds 42 ppl with a kitchen, bathroom, and open area with a fire place! the cost is $39.00 a person for both nights. Also, they do not have a gym but a pavilion with a roof that has a fire place. They have trails and a small adventure course type of thing. However, they have recommended me to a place called Poplar Ridge Adventures. this place has high ropes, adventure stuff and paintball. I have not heard back from them on prices but will let you know when I do. go check out the places at www.inspirtaionhills.org and www.poplararidge.org.
We might be able to solve the kitchen problem... I have contacted a Nazarene Church in the town of Ravenna to see if they have a kitchen or one that we could use for the weekend. I have not heard back from them bu hopefully will by tomorrow. Also, I just sent in a request form to camp carl to reserve our dates and get a contract. Things are looking good so far... just need to get a kitchen...
Hey guys! It looks like Brett has really done a great job getting all this information together for us. I was wondering if we could meet as a group, maybe before class at 6, to iron out the details so that we can get the retreat planning rolling.
I say we try to meet earlier than that. We need to nail down a place by Monday, which means making phone calls and final decisions. I'd say we meet between 5:00 and 5:30.
We have a few potential sites still. Can everyone meet at 5:00 or 5:30?
early would be greater than that... cause more places leave their camp at 4pm... so most calls can't be made till tuesday... so how about 4pm in the library?
Thanks Jeremy! :)
